I just wanted to let you know that I'm feeling a bit better. It seems like the mornings are a bit rough, but by about mid-afternoon I have been doing better and have more energy. Maybe that's when the steroids are in full force! lol I have been sleeping well, which is something that normally doesn't happen when I'm on steroids, so I'm thankful for that! Thank you for the prayers, they are working, and please keep 'em coming!

Ugh...
I contacted my doctor's office this week due to not feeling well lately. I asked about getting some antibiotics, and while on the phone I asked about the latest sputum culture. The doctor said she had her nurse looking up some stuff on the computer and would call me tomorrow. Well...tomorrow was yesterday and the nurse called to tell me that the WRONG sputum culture was ordered/processed 8 weeks ago!!! I can't tell you how mad I was. When I called the office approximately a month ago, I had asked if mycobacterium had shown up yet and the nurse kind of fumbled around and I got the idea that she really didn't know exactly what she was looking for, so I asked, "Do you see the word 'mycobacterium' anyplace on the report?" and she said no, so I was a bit uneasy, but took that as a good sign. I should have pushed and made sure the correct test had been ordered at that point.
I had to give another sample yesterday, and so now I have to wait approx 8 weeks until this one grows out, unless mycobacterium shows up before then, which I hope it doesn't!
If I may ask for your prayers, I'd ask that you pray that no mycobacterium would show up on the sputum culture and also, I have been feeling pretty rough lately, and I hope the antibiotics and steroids I'm starting today will make me feel better, but prayers work a whole lot faster!
Thanks and have a good weekend.

Lynda

Good News!
I found out this week that the final report on culture #2 did NOT show mycobacterium abscessus on it!! Praise The Lord for that!! I also called my local doctor's office yesterday to check on sample #3 and the nurse said that nothing had shown up yet, so that's good news, however, we still have 4 weeks to wait for the final results. I hope and pray that it will continue to not show any growth of mycobacterium! I have an appointment at Barnes Jewish in April and all culture results should be in by then, so we'll see what the next step is. I'm assuming it's to be put back on the transplant list. If I can milk these old lungs for a bit longer, I'd like to wait until after graduation to transplant. One thing God has shown me through all of this is that He's in control and it's ALL in His timing, not mine, which is hard for me, as I am a "planner". lol
I've been feeling OK lately. Good days and bad days, but it seems there are more good ones. Been keeping busy helping Dakota with prom and graduation planning--it's hard to believe that she is graduating from High School soon!! She also has been accepted at Butler Community College for the Fall semester, so we are excited about that! She's still undecided on a major, but wants to get the prerequisites out of the way.
Thank you for the prayers and I'm sorry for not being better about updating on how I'm doing.
Have a great weekend!

Sample #3
I am scheduled to give sputum sample #3 in the morning. It can take up to 8 weeks to grow out. I still have not heard anything about #2, but it has only been 3 weeks since I provided it.
I have been struggling more the last few days; getting winded with pretty much any exertion. I have a nebulized medication (Cayston) that I do for 4 weeks, then take a break for 4 weeks, then back on for 4 weeks, etc. and I'm currently on the 4 weeks "off" cycle and I notice that I breathe better during the "on" months, so maybe that's part of the shortness of breath. Hopefully things will improve in the next few days.
There is not much else to update. Let's hope and pray that samples #2 and #3 will come out with no mycobacterium growth!!
As always, thank you for the thoughts and prayers and please keep them coming!!
