We have a Graduate!

Dakota graduated last weekend and we all did well. We had a joint reception Saturday evening with her boyfriend's (Caleb) family, and graduation Sunday afternoon. God gave me just the right amount of energy and adrenaline to get through! There were many people that stepped up to help lighten the load for us moms at the reception, and I won't start naming names, because I will surely forget someone, but so many helped out and it was greatly appreciated!!

My best friend scurried me away after the reception Saturday night (while the clean-up portion was going on). She could see that I was spent, and that I also needed to have a breathing treatment. That, or she was trying to get out of clean-up? Hmmm..lol

As I was watching a slide show of Dakota through the years, it just seems unreal how quickly the time passes, as I'm sure you can all attest to. She is excited to see what the next chapter holds in her life, as are we!

I called my doctor's office yesterday regarding the latest culture and the fungal portions have shown no fungal growth yet, and so far nothing from the mycobacterium family has shown up either, so that's good J but it still could in the remaining few weeks until the report is final.

Thank you again for your prayers!

Graduation!

I can't believe it, but Dakota will be graduating this weekend! It seems like 2 or 3 years ago that I was helping out with Field Day at her elementary school!! I'm looking forward to watching her bloom and seeing what God has in store for her future. We are so proud of the young lady she has become!

If I may ask for prayer, it would be for Dakota as she is transitioning from school to planning for her future, and also for myself, that I will have the energy for all the goings-on this weekend and that I would not catch a cold or anything. Garry is off Friday and we have family coming from out of town, so there should be plenty of hands to help with everything, which is great!

I have not heard on the 3rd culture lately, but nothing had shown up as of approx 3 weeks ago. The 8 weeks should be up the first part of June and we have a follow-up appt in St. Louis mid-June, so we'll see what the next step is then.

Thank you for the prayers and God Bless!

A bit better...

I just wanted to let you know that I'm feeling a bit better. It seems like the mornings are a bit rough, but by about mid-afternoon I have been doing better and have more energy. Maybe that's when the steroids are in full force! lol I have been sleeping well, which is something that normally doesn't happen when I'm on steroids, so I'm thankful for that! Thank you for the prayers, they are working, and please keep 'em coming!

Ugh...

I contacted my doctor's office this week due to not feeling well lately. I asked about getting some antibiotics, and while on the phone I asked about the latest sputum culture. The doctor said she had her nurse looking up some stuff on the computer and would call me tomorrow. Well...tomorrow was yesterday and the nurse called to tell me that the WRONG sputum culture was ordered/processed 8 weeks ago!!! I can't tell you how mad I was. When I called the office approximately a month ago, I had asked if mycobacterium had shown up yet and the nurse kind of fumbled around and I got the idea that she really didn't know exactly what she was looking for, so I asked, "Do you see the word 'mycobacterium' anyplace on the report?" and she said no, so I was a bit uneasy, but took that as a good sign. I should have pushed and made sure the correct test had been ordered at that point.

I had to give another sample yesterday, and so now I have to wait approx 8 weeks until this one grows out, unless mycobacterium shows up before then, which I hope it doesn't!

If I may ask for your prayers, I'd ask that you pray that no mycobacterium would show up on the sputum culture and also, I have been feeling pretty rough lately, and I hope the antibiotics and steroids I'm starting today will make me feel better, but prayers work a whole lot faster!

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Hugs,
Lynda
